Chairmans Message

As we anticipate another season of first class rugby it is my pleasure as Chairman of Naas Rugby Club to welcome you all to Forenaughts. Our coaches and management teams at all levels are eager to get started and to see all the carefully developed plans put into action. Our pitches and general playing facilities are in great shape following the down period of rest and much needed repairs.

The numbers attending pre-season training at senior level are very encouraging with all of our key players and some new additions preparing well and going through their respective training programmes. Our women’s rugby section is growing and this season will see our women’s section field teams at all levels and for the first time a full Naas RFC senior women’s team. In our Youths section we will field teams at each age grade from Under-12 to Under-18.

During the summer months the Executive Committee have spent a considerable amount of time analysing and participating in discussions with the IRFU/Leinster Branch on the proposed changes to the structure of the AIL. Our concerns with these changes have been communicated directly to the IRFU and through our Leinster Branch representation. As these proposals develop further I will keep you informed and updated.

As we continue working through our Development Plan we will see the new entrance layout completed. Preparation has already begun on our next Sports Capital Grant application which will focus on growing requirements for playing facilities, dressing rooms and gym facilities. More information on this later as we progress through our preparations.

I would encourage all members to support our generous and loyal Sponsors in whatever capacity you can. Without the financial support we receive from our Sponsors we could not provide the excellent facility we continue to develop.

I look forward to 2018-19 and to welcoming you and your friends to Naas RFC,

Liam O’Rourke

Chairman
