Naas Ladies enter third year

After entertaining Carrickfergus, Clontarf and the visiting Canadian tourists last season Naas ladies bade farewell to their coach Anthony Lawlor, who has taken up the task of Presiding over the Club for the current season. Tony has been replaced by Michael, a scrum half with the firsts and David Walsh who is taking a sabbatical this season, due to injury, his excuse and he is sticking by it.

This Season we have about 22 players including some ladies youths (under 18s) training on Monday and Thursday nights at 7:30pm at Forenaughts, Naas, Co. Kildare. The overall aim of the training sessions is to introduce women the skills of rugby, develop team work and have fun while doing it.

The training sessions include a range of drills aimed at introducing basic ball skills including handling and passing the ball. Learning how to play the game safely is one of the main features of each session which concludes with a fun game of touch rugby where we can hone our skills with newly acquired body swerves, side-steps, quick passes, and occasional straight line sprints to the line when the opportunity arises.

This season we have already played at the Malahide Blitz (Away) and hosted Clontarf and Dundalk as we prepare for the coming competitive season in the 06/07 Development League. Rules for the matches are set up by both sides on terms of the ability of the squads.

Our main aim is to get women involved in the sport, provide the social aspect of team sport and engage in the opportunities of being involved with a club with in excess on 120 playing members at adult level.
